Disarming the accuser

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me
John 12:31,32

The Lord Jesus tells us that the judgement that was due the world will be placed on him as he is lifted up from the earth on the cross. Anyone who receives this by faith comes into the enjoyment of its reality. The world came under the rule of satan through Adam’s treason and through that sin entered into the world.

We see that as the world gets judged in the redemptive work of Christ, Satan is cast out. Satan was reigning through sin. Since this has been judged in Christ Jesus, satan is effectively cast out.

Where has this prince been cast out of? He has been cast out of heaven. It is definitely not talking about casting out of the earth in that verse for the very title shows that his activities are confined to the world and the world alone. The salvation that is in Christ Jesus has brought this to pass.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night
Rev 12:9,10

In heaven, as a result of the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ a proclamation has been made and a law passed effectively silencing the accuser for all time. The thing is the people on earth do not know this until a voice comes from heaven communicating the casting out of the accuser. I am to know what this heavenly voice has declared. This guarantees that no blindfold or smoke screen of the enemy can be effective against me any longer. He operates through deceit. This deception thrives on ignorance or misconceptions.

The death and resurrection of Christ Jesus has forever silenced all accusations of the enemy against you before God. He has no power to accuse you in heaven now. This is known in heaven and known to the accuser who is the devil.

Now is come salvation. This is the reason why the accuser has no place in heaven any longer. The salvation that we have in Christ Jesus guarantees this. I have a man in glory whose ascension is proof of a perfect redemption. On the basis of this perfect work the economics of the accuser’s operation was overthrown. That which dealt with my sin actually also dealt with my accuser. I am bold about the sins being put away because that is how far I have heard the good news, but it is more than that – the same blow that purged my sins paralysed my accuser. This salvation having demonstrated a masterful triumph in heaven has come to the earth, to the believer so that the believer might receive the force of that salvation and kingdom power into his daily walk to silence the accuser when the accuser comes with his arguments.

This is the genius of it – when Jesus rose and ascended into heaven he sat as proof that any man who believes in him is righteous before God’s very throne. You cannot bring an accusation against this righteous man in Christ. The shed blood of Christ is evidence. The accuser knows this fact. This is what is meant by the accuser being cast out.

My job is not to paralyse him – Jesus has done that. I am simply to hear the voice of my shepherd and live in the reality of that which he has proclaimed from heaven. The kingdom of God is available to me now within my spirit by faith. There is no accusation or condemning sentence in that kingdom. I do not wait for the sweet by and by for its physical manifestation in the millennium; I arise boldly and overcome the already paralysed accuser by the same blood and testimony of truth on my lips

The accuser is furious that he has been cast down. He will demonstrate this fury in the many distorted thoughts he will bring to your mind conjuring up sentences that are contrary to your well-being and inciting you to think little of the absolute mastery that we have on the basis of the finished work of Christ.

Do not forget that the accuser’s heart is lifted up in pride. He is still proud. He knows that he is no longer what he used to be and that he has lost the access that he used to have, but he will convince your mind through unrenewed thinking to think of him as still possessing the non-existent access. If he can make you think it, you will experience the condemning power of your own thoughts and live under the heavy burden of the accuser’s lies. As you succumb to these lies you unconsciously are feeding his pride. In reality he is cast out and cast down and that should be your testimony!

Jesus is not in heaven trying to counter the devil’s accusations against you. As you know by now the enemy has no such entrance in heaven, the only place where he has been free to roam has been your mind – now shut the door on the accuser’s face and walk out on him! We have a man at the right hand of God who is our guarantee.

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Rom 8:33,34

This is a peep into heaven. God is not laying anything to your charge and neither is Christ condemning you. God has nothing to do with accusations against you now he justifies you and the ground of it is Christ. You might as well know that the information that the accuser uses against you are not derived from the mind of God or of the Lord Jesus Christ. They derive from your actions and your experiences. He constantly exposes these pictures of failure to your mind knowing that after a while your mind falsely accepts this as the verdict of God.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph 5:29,30

No man hates his body but nourishes and cherishes it. The man is Christ and you are a member of his body. Christ does not hate you. He cherishes and nourishes you. What do you do to your body when it is weak? Do you starve it to death? Inflict more pain? No, you actually cherish it and rush a lot of attention to nourish the part needing attention. This is also the way that Christ looks at you. Paul said that this is a mystery. I am to grow in the knowledge of this mystery drawing nourishment from it.

The accuser will have you think that the Lord Jesus hates you. You might as well disarm him today. You do not have to listen to him any longer. Using the logic of his accusations he seeks to seduce your mind from a place of boldness and confidence in God and bring you into the dark corridors of fear and condemnation.

He tempts you seducing you through thoughts and emotions that steer you away from God’s love. Then as soon as you succumb he uses your mind to hammer you in condemnation.

Unconsciously due to too much exposure to the ministry of the accuser of the brethren we draw a lot from his methods. We are not to pattern our reproofs or correction of fellow brethren after the accuser’s style. He effectively uses other unwary believers to bring his accusations into your life. Really, if Jesus were presenting counter-arguements to accusations brought against you in heaven it would be accusations from fellow Christians who are too gullible to know that they are pawns in the devil’s game of condemnation.

The Lord Jesus corrects differently. Jesus said that the sheep know his voice – It is the voice of grace and truth. He also said that we do not hear the voice of another. Jesus does not accuse you. He does not condemn you. Agree with his testimony today
