But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 2 cor 4:7

You cannot escape from the reality of this New Testament truth: There is a treasure contained within you right now. He didn’t say we hope to have or that we wish it was so, the language is emphatic – we have! Thing is if you were to look around you now you might have reason to think that you are destitute and in need of treasure.

Did you notice that phrase “earthen vessel”? That is a reference to the human body. You should learn to think of your body as a vessel. Since your body is a vessel, then the body is not the real you. It is very much like your house. It is however important that you realize that according to God’s system of demonstrating power your body is needed and important. It is the container of the treasure.

We know he is referring to the human body because continuing with the same thought he says
“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:” 2Co 5:6

In other words your body is likened to a house in which the real you lives. You notice that there is always more wealth manifested inside a house than what you would see outside. In the same way the Apostle Paul shows us that the treasure of God is within and housed by your body. There is more to you than meets the eye!

It is true that you walk around and other men might consider you to be like every other man. In truth your body houses the treasure of God, it houses the excellency of God’s power. In simple terms the thing that is veiled by your body is awesome, your body is very much like a camouflage – you can freely walk around knowing that you represent something beyond the ordinary. In that sense you are dangerous. From behind the camouflage of your human body there should stream forth the lightnings of God's power!

The starting point is to notice that the treasure is within the earthen vessel now. If I wanted to come to a clearer understanding of the real state of things I must look past the “earthen vessel”. Often we do not find the treasure because we look for it in all the wrong places. To locate the treasure, the word is clear – you don’t look into the heavens, heaven is counting on you to look within.

The way God shows the Excellency of his power is by operating the treasure contained by the human body. The body acts like containment for treasure. How does God operate this excellency of power?

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

We know what the “earthen vessel” is; we also have information from God’s word about the “treasure”. The treasure is "of the heart". In simple terms we can say that the treasure of God is a reference to the reborn human spirit. In other words your spirit is God’s avenue for channeling his power into your life.

You notice that the good man brings out the treasure. This shows that man’s job is to bring out of this treasure contained within the earthen vessel. God provides the treasure and houses it within your body. It is your job to take out of the deposit of this power to meet every challenge that comes your way, when this has happened we have the flow of excellency of power. God has so designed you that your spirit is meant to feed the power of God to your physical body. You need to learn how to use the laws of faith to bring these treasures from out of your spirit and release them into the natural world.
The system around you is designed to submit to and conform to the treasure flowing out of your heart.

The human spirit is God’s treasure. This treasure operates from within the physical body in other to bring into manifestation the power of God.

You remember that the Lord Jesus said, “the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”. This means that the weakness that plagues you does not flow from your spirit, for your spirit knows no weakness. Your spirit is indeed full of glory. There is always a readiness in your spirit. You are never weak within. The weakness flows from the flesh.

When I realize that my spirit is willing I cooperate with God by drawing out of my spirit that which will meet the need of the hour. When my spirit is saying that there is a readiness, my flesh will often say that there is no readiness, for it knows the language of weakness. How do I turn this around, I take of the heavenly treasure of my spirit and bring forth a release of excellence into the place where weakness held sway before. When I constantly affirm weakness or have my language full of “I cant” “I am not able” it is symptomatic of reliance on the flesh. I am meant to look past the “earthen vessel” and see the divine provision of God placed within my spirit.

Our labor is learning how to use the spirit to mortify the deeds of the flesh. You are to take out of the good treasures of your spirit and put to death the weakness that plague your flesh. This marks the end of weakness. When this is in effect, the Excellency of power is of God, man is operating according to design. The thing is we tend to leave the treasure within without allowing it break through the veil of flesh. The pivotal thought around which many Christians operate is a sense of lack, a deep-seated sense of powerlessness. This is because every time you focus on the flesh weakness will become more real to you. You will learn to acknowledge that there is treasure within you now and as you look to and draw from that treasure you know a power beyond words.

You are the good man; your job is not to ask God to do something now, your job is to bring out of the treasures of God within you now. Bring out the future.

Shout it out loud “I am the good man. I have this treasure in my body right now and the Excellency of this power is of my Father God”
